About the Business Unit
The Contracts and Infrastructure Branch are responsible for contract management, commercial oversight and advisory services, as well as the effective management and maintenance of all Corrections and Justice Services' prison and related infrastructure. This includes:
- The management and oversight of major contracts including the three private prisons.
- Representing the Corrections and Justice Services' interests on infrastructure and construction projects to ensure the best possible outcome for stakeholders and commercial partners.
- The development and implementation of all required systems, processes and policies to sustain this diverse asset portfolio.
The Contract Officer will contribute to the management of the Public Private Partnership prison contracts and the Prisoner Transport contract, supporting implementation of contract initiatives including commercial negotiations, procurement activities and briefings to senior staff and stakeholders.
The Contract Officer will contribute to ongoing contract management including: compliance reviews, performance analysis, individual projects and ongoing monitoring of the contracts to ensure services are delivered to the defined standards.
The role will involve regular travel to prison locations and other sites where contracted services are being delivered and will require overnight travel to a regional site.
Some of your duties will include:
- Provide administrative, contract management and program support for the three private prison and prisoner transport contracts.
- Provide advice to senior management on contractual matters and opportunities.
- Prepare high level detailed briefings, correspondence, and reports on contractual and operational issues to senior management, including the Commissioner, Secretary and Ministers that may involve integrating complex information from a variety of sources with limited direction.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Experience in complex contract administration and an understanding of Public Private Partnerships.
- Understanding of the management of complex service contracts and an ability to prepare comprehensive reports including commercial and contractual analysis.
- There are no mandatory qualifications for this role, however a demonstrated understanding and practical experience within a government environment would be highly regarded.
